Post-harvest Pathology is an important subject. Unfavorable environmental conditions during harvest cause Spongy tissue disorder in Alphonso mangoes. Spraying sea water on 50-60 % mature fruits is said to be one of the preventive measures against development of spongy tissue. 

 

This disorder arises due to the premature onset of germination in the seed of the developing fruit. Incidence of spongy tissue is rduced by the osmotic effect generated by hypertonic salt solutions sprayed withholds the movement of water from mesocarp to seed, thus preventing the onset of germination

Badami Alphonso that is completely golden in color is different than Ratnagiri Alphonso mangoes. Badami is the local name for Alphonso in Karnataka and its a leading Mango variety there. Arka Aruna mango is a dwarf regular bearing hybrid variety between Baganpalli and Alphonso. Large fruits arka arun mango have attractive skin color with red blush

Pairi mango पायरी आम Pairi aam पैरी आम पायरी मैंगो पैरी मैंगो KAIRY कैरी looks like a Shindhuri Aam because outer skin of pari laso has red (sinduri color).

Smell and shape of Pairi is like that of Alphonso mango.

Found more in coastal Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Goa.

Its a regular bearer variety; matures early. It has typical aroma somewhat similar to Alphonso aam
