Lettuce or Lactuca sativa is commonly grown as a leaf vegetable for salad purpose

Major types of lettuce grown are :
1.Head type variety e.g. Great Lakes lettuce, Iceberg lettuce, Ford Hook Emperor lettuce
2.Leaf type variety e.g. Chinese Yellow lettuce, Punjab lettuce

Great Lakes lettuce is a crisp-head type
 

Chinese Yellow is an open leaf variety, leaves are light green, crisp and tender

Examples of Lettuce cultivars with red leaf are Red Lettuce Lolla Rosa or Rosalina lettuce and Pusa red lettuce

 Palak seeds are generally sown 3-4 cm deep in soil. Irrigation is given immediately after sowing

pusa bharti palak produces green, tender leaves. It has higher vitamin C content and beta carotene

 

 Virginia Savoy is a large-leafed spinach cultivar and is one of the popular American variety

Spinach palak पालक Spinacia oleracea pusa all green ,pusa bharti palak and exotic spinach variety Virginia Savoy are grown more. Spinach beet (B. vulgaris var. bengalensis) is a subspecies of Beet root plant and it can also be called as the leaf beet salad. Spinach beet Pusa Harit cultivar is a cross between sugar beet and palak. It produces thick, large and slightly crinkled green leaves

Another subspecies of Beet root plant is Beta vulgaris var. cicla having large leaf stalks, is known as Swiss chard or just Chard. It is similar to spinach beet but has thick coloured midribs. Chard with Yellow-stemmed leaves and those with Purple-stemmed leaves, both are consumed as leaf vegetable
