Late Season Potato Varieties
Kufri Badshah tubers,though large, oval, white is not suitable for processing due to its dull white flesh. It yields about 130 Qtl/Acre potatoes in about 100-110 days. kufri badshah potato tubers develop purple colour on exposure to light.
Kufri Sindhuri, a medium late variety matures in 110-120 days and yields about 120 Qtl/Acre. Light red skin color tuber of kufri sinduri has dull white flesh. Medium, smooth, round tubers of this variety has good keeping quality but not suitable for processing

Use of same potato seed stock, year after year has many disadvantages, therefore, new potato seed shall be used every 3-4 years. beej wale ALU aalu BATATA alu beej POTATO seed tuber should be purchased from a reliable source. Ten days before planting potato farm yard manure should be applied@ 20 tonnes/acre
After taking out of the cold storage, the seed potatoes obtained from the cold store, should be dried under shade. After tuber treatment store seed potato tubers in a cool place under partial shade for 8-10 days to enable 0.5 - 1.0 cm length sprouting before sowing.Turn the surface of tubers once in a day and allow buds to sprout for a week
Before planting potato, disinfect the potato seed tubers in 0.25 % Pencycuron 250 SC i.e. Monceren 250 ml in 100 litres of water by dipping for 10 minutes to control black scurf disease disease caused by fungus Rhizoctonia solani. Fungicide monceren is used as a seed tuber treatment @ 2.5ml per litre water to fill the container in which tubers are to be dipped for 10 minutes. Healthy tubers used for sowing reduces late blight also.
Monceren is a protective non - systemic fungicide therefore, spraying monceren solution on potato will not control the disease. Fertilizer should be applied as per the recommendations in soil health card or approx. 1 bag of urea, 3 bags of single super phosphate, and 1 bag of muriate of potash per acre applied at the time of planting by mixing with soil. herbicide KHARPATWAAR nashak/NADEEN nashak/KAKH naskak/NINDAVAN nashak/WEEDICIDE for AALOO Potato should be aplied in time.
Metribuzin 70 WP e.g. Sencor, Bayer; Tata Metri; Barrier, Dhanuka; Chase, Indofil; Anchor, IIL; Sricor, Crystal; Metrite, Sulphur mills @ 200 g/acre as pre-emergence is one of the widely used pre-emergence herbicide for potato - aaloo weeds.
Late Bilght infection affected fields may be sprayed with pre-mix fungicide formulations such as Mandipropamid (e.g.Revus 250 SC,Syngenta)@ 250 ml or pre-mix Metalaxyl 8% + Mancozeb 64% WP (e.g.Ridomil Gold, Syngenta or Du Pont Curzate M-8 or premix Fenamidone 10% + Mancozeb 50% WG(e.g.Sectin 60 WG,Bayer) @ 700g or pre-mix Famoxadone 16.6% + Cymoxanil 22.1% SC(e.g.Equation Pro,Du Pont) @ 200 ml per acre at 10 days interval
